Joe Weingarten for Indiana Representative District 29

Why Joe?

The Indiana General Assembly is supposed to be a “citizen” legislature.  The idea is that real citizens, not professional politicians, should serve their fellow citizens and, therefore, better represent the needs and concerns of the people of the state.

Given the length of time many of our “citizen” legislators have served, given the unending political squabbling that occurs, given the continual voting along party lines, and given the degree of influence special interests seem to have, one can only question as to whether there are more than a small handful of state legislators that actually comprehend the needs and concerns of real people.

Joe is a real citizen.  Joe has a fixed income, a mortgage, pays taxes, and worries about the future just like the rest of us.  He knows what it’s like to be an every day citizen in this state because he is one.

Like all of us, Joe has real concerns about where this state is headed, both short and long term.  And, he has some realistic ideas about what can be done and done through collaborative, bi-partisan efforts.

Joe is not a professional politician.  He does have extensive civil service and business experience to bring to bear to help work through problems and identify realistic answers, even if those answers don’t bend to anyone’s brand of politics or antiquated ways of doing things.

Joe is not beholding to any special interest group.  Nor does he owe any political favors to anyone.

Joe gets things done.  As an Aerospace Engineer and as the Technical Assistant to the Commander of the Air Force Material Command Joe has experience at getting things done at the highest levels of government; not through partisan politics or “favors,” but through teamwork, by having a reputation of integrity, and by clearing defining the problem and working collaboratively with others to effectively solve the problem—not band-aids, but real solutions. Joe is internationally known for his aeronautical work, he holds 11 US Patents, and has been recognized by both the Government and Industry for his many accomplishments.

Joe wants to work for you!  Joe firmly believes that it is past time for change.  The citizens of this great state can and should no longer standby while their elected “leaders” play politics, trump up wedge issues to make themselves seem important and appear as they are working the issues, and then not get around to the real business of the people.  Joe wants to bring common sense and a sense of real purpose back to the General Assembly.  Joe wants to be your representative for District 29—he truly is a fellow citizen and he truly wants to work with you and for you to address your needs and concerns.
